Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, during his election campaign in 2011 promised to tighten the country’s anti-abortion law, but abandoned the plan last September because of the disagreement within the Popular Party.
At the moment, women in Spain can have an abortion if they are less than 14 weeks pregnant.
The demonstrators warned on Saturday that Rajoy and his party will lose many votes in this year’s general election if his decision to cancel anti-abortion reform is final.
According to the Spanish Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality, over 108,000 cases of abortion were reported in the country in 2013.
