Egyptian Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab said Egypt hopes that the country’s trade and industrial cooperation with Russia will expand further.

SHARM EL-SHEIKH (Sputnik) — Egypt hopes that the country’s trade and industrial cooperation with Russia will expand further, Egyptian Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab told RIA Novosti Saturday.

On Saturday, Mahlab held bilateral talks with Russian Minister of Economic Development Alexei Ulyukayev in the framework of the Egypt’s Economic Development Conference. After the talks, Mahlab said that the meeting was “frutifil.”

“We have discussed with the Russian minister cooperation in various joint projects in industrial and energy sectors. I am optimistic about the expansion of trade and industrial cooperation, and partnership as a whole between our countries,” Mahlab said.

Diplomatic relations between the USSR and Egypt were established on August 26, 1943.

Recently, after Russian President Vladimir Putin’s February visit to Egypt, the sides agreed to increase military-technical, trade, security and economic cooperation.
