Thousands of French medical professionals took to the streets of Paris on Sunday to protest against a proposed healthcare bill discussed by the French government throughout this week.
According to healthcare workers, the proposed legislation will increase bureaucracy within the medical system. One of the central issues is that doctors would have to apply for reimbursement for a consultation, not patients.
The proposed bill also calls for additional food-labelling, stricter tobacco rules and asks for more preventative practices within the healthcare system.
Local police say that 19,000 protesters turned out for the march. However, organizers of the demonstration claim that twice as many people showed up at the march.
