After successfully closing the deal, he decided to purchase the US embassy building on Via Veneto for $610,000 and the FAO complex on Viale delle Terme di Caracalla for $630,000.

Kroll was assisted by Donato Perazzolo, who impersonated a bank employee, and Walter Baccini in the role of a government official working at Italy's Minister of the Interior. Anna Lisa Morganti was also involved in the big con.
