While the NIH has so far not released any further details about the patient, what is known is that the patient is an American healthcare worker who had volunteered at an Ebola treatment center in Sierra Leone and contracted the disease there.
They were flown back to the United States on a chartered flight and admitted to NIH last Friday, March 13.
The person is the second to be treated for Ebola at NIH. Last fall, Texas nurse Nina Pham was treated and later released after contracting the disease by caring for the first Ebola patient diagnosed in the United States.
