MOSCOW (Sputnik) – A combined squadron of 10 Mi-8 (Hip) and Mi-24H (Hind) helicopters has been deployed to the Krymsk Airbase in Russia’s southern Krasnodar Region for strategic exercises, the Southern Military District’s press service said Wednesday.
"A combined squadron of 10 Mi-8 and Mi-24H helicopters has been deployed from the Korenovsk Airbase to the Krymsk Airbase in the Krasnodar Region to conduct strategic exercises," the press service said.
The helicopter crews will practice landing the Southern Military District special troops.
Russia will carry out at least 4,000 drills in 2015, according to the Defense Ministry.
The current drills in southern Russia involving more than 2,000 personnel and around 500 pieces of military hardware were started March 5 and will last until April 10.
