“The United States has provided significant security support to Ukraine throughout this crisis, almost $120 million worth,” Nuland stated.
Washington has not yet made the decision to provide lethal support to the government in Kiev, but “we are getting ready to start training Ukrainian forces in Western Ukraine,” she added.
As of February 2015, the United States had provided more than $355 million in assistance toward Ukrainian security, economic stability and reform agenda, according to the White House. In early March, US Secretary of State John Kerry announced an additional $75 million in non-lethal military aid.
