ROME (Sputnik) — The opening ceremony of the festival of Russian culture Feel Russia took place in Milan, Italy on Saturday, a RIA Novosti correspondent reported.
The event is a large-scale project aimed at showing the guests of the festival major cultural achievements of Russia.
"Italy is the first country where a similar festival takes place. The following countries that will host Feel Russia are Germany and France," Russia's deputy minister of culture Alla Manilova told reporters on the first day of the performance.
The honorary guest of the festival is Denis Matsuev, a Russian renowned classical pianist.
Jazz Choir of Sverdlovsk State Children's Philharmonic, the opera singers of the Mariinsky Opera and Ballet Theatre, Karelia National Song and Dance Ensemble Kantele and Folk music band FOLKBEATRF are also due to take part in the concert in Milan on Saturday.
Moreover, on occasion of the festival, organizers have prepared an interactive exhibition of Russian artists of the XIX – XXth centuries and various master classes.
