Indonesian authorities detained five people, believed to have recruited women and children for the Islamic State, in a series of weekend raids in the country's capital of Jakarta.
The five recruiters have recently helped 16 people, including 11 children and four women, to travel to Turkey. The 16 Indonesians were planning to fight along the radical Sunnis in Syria but were arrested in the Turkish town of Gaziantep. Earlier, the recruiters sent 21 Indonesians to the Middle East.
Any show of support for the Islamic State controlling large swathes of land in Iraq and Syria is illegal in Indonesia. Jakarta has waged a decade-long campaign to root out Islamic extremists in the country.
