Russia and Germany have no alternative, as to re-establish mutual friendly relations, the German ambassador in Moscow, Rüdiger von Fritsch said.
"[…] our goal remains a return to good relations with Russia and there is no alternative in this respect," he said on Monday during his lecture at the Moscow State University. "Our relations have a potential and our relations are indispensable," he added.
According to him, a sudden collapse in relations between Russia and Germany, which took place last year, arose from the fact that countries have different perceptions of the international events over the past 25 years.
"We look at things differently, but for mutual understanding it is always important to know vision of the others," von Fritsch said.
The diplomat also added that Western countries would never forgive Russia’s position with regard to Crimea, but sooner or later, economic sanctions against Russia will be lifted.
