Germanwings A320 Passenger Jet With 150 Aboard Crashes in Southern France
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The French traffic controller union SNCTA cancelled a strike planned from Wednesday until Friday after a Germanwings passenger jet crashed in southern France on Tuesday.

"A plane of Germanwings airline disappeared this morning from radar screens of controllers of Aix-en-Provence center, who were in charge… In such dramatic circumstances and considering the emotion this accident roused, especially among the traffic controllers, SNCTA decides to suspend its strike warning," the union said in a press release.

On Tuesday, the Germanwings flight en route from Barcelona to Dusseldorf crashed in a remote mountain region in southern France. According to the airline, 150 people were on board. French Transport Minister Alain Vidalies said there were no survivors.

Earlier in the day, the union called the traffic controllers to stop working from March 25 to March 27, claiming that the government was incapable of social dialogue. SNCTA mentioned risks of airspace overload, European over-regulation and high retirement age as issues that should be solved.
