WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The United States will send more than a dozen senior officials to join US Secretary of State John Kerry in Switzerland ahead of a deadline at the end of March in the nuclear negotiations between Iran and international powers, the US State Department said in a statement.
“Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman and the US negotiating team will travel on March 25 to Lausanne, Switzerland, where they will join Secretary of State John Kerry to meet with Iranian officials,” the statement, issued on Tuesday, said.
International talks between the P5+1 group of countries and Iran have been ongoing for more than a year, and are facing the end of March deadline to reach an agreement on a political framework. The P5+1 group consists of five permanent UN Security Council members — China, Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom and France plus Germany.
