WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Fifty-year-old David Phillip Ryan pleaded guilty in a New Jersey Court with conspiracy to transport stolen firearms, according to the statement. While three others pleaded guilty to their involvement in the firearms conspiracy.
“A Miami, Florida, man today admitted trying to sell seven firearms believed to have belonged to the family of Saddam Hussein, US Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced,” the statement, issued on Wednesday, read.
Over the course of the investigation, US federal law enforcement officers seized several firearms, including a one Coonan Arms Inc., 0.357 semi-automatic pistol, one Korth, 0.357 magnum revolver and two Cosmi 12-gauge shotguns.
Starting in April 2012, US law enforcement officials were informed that firearms allegedly belonging to the late Hussein’s family members were sold in the United States, kept in Florida and appraised at nearly $350,000.
The count which Ryan pleaded guilty to holds a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a fine of $250,000, according to the statement.
Ryan’s sentencing is slated for June 22, 2015.
