Rescue workers, including police and Vietnamese soldiers were searching for survivors and two of the dead workers, who were still trapped under the debris. Rescuers were also on hand to urgently help victims, provincial People's Committee Deputy Chairman Dang Quoc Khanh said in a broadcast of the state-run Vietnam Television (VTV).
"At the construction site, there were thousands of workers, so the number of workers in distress is not yet accurately calculated," Pham Tran De, deputy head of the management board for the zone told the online newspaper VnExpress.
The workers were employed by a subcontractor, working for Samsung C&T Corp, part of South Korea's Samsung Group, according to the state-run Thanh Nien newspaper
All the victims in this scaffold collapse were Vietnamese, according to VTV.
