MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Yemen's former president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi has entered neighboring Oman, a local security source told Sputnik on Thursday.
Hadi and his government were forced to resign in January after Houthi rebels seized the presidential palace.
Earlier on Thursday, a Yemeni military source told Sputnik that Hadi had arrived to the port city of Al Mukalla in the country's south and would proceed either to Oman or Saudi Arabia.
On Wednesday, Hadi requested military aid from the League of Arab States. The same day, Saudi Arabia announced the launch of an operation targeting Houthi fighters in Yemen.
The airstrikes on Houthi positions are being carried out by Saudi Arabia and a number of other states, including Bahrain, Qatar and Egypt.
The official airstrike death toll in residential areas in the Yemeni capital of Sanaa stands at 65 people, a representative in the local authorities told Sputnik.
