BEIJING (Sputnik) – Official sales of the Russian smartphone Yotaphone on the Chinese consumer market will start in one or two months, Russian Minister of Communications and Mass Media Nikolai Nikiforov said Friday.
On March 27, a Russian delegation, headed by Nikiforov held talks in Bejing with Miao Wei, the Chinese Minister of Industry and Information Technology and Cai Fuchao, Head of China's State Administration for Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television.
“We hope that the official launch [of YotaPhone sales on the Chinese market] will start in one or two month from now, as at present the process of certification is underway,” Nikiforov told RIA Novosti.
The project is considered to be a great example of cooperation between the two countries, as YotaPhone is designed by Russian engineers and produced in China, Nikiforov highlighted.
In December 2014, Russian company Yota Devices introduced the YotaPhone 2, which has a unique second touch screen. The smartphone runs on OS Android, has a 2GB short-term and 32 GB built-in memory.
Last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin presented a YotaPhone 2 to Chinese President Xi Jinping.
