MOSCOW (Sputnik) — A Saudi-Arabia led coalition intensified its airstrikes against the Houthi rebels’ positions in Yemen, Sky News Arabia reported Sunday.
The coalition planes bombed Houthis’ positions in Al Hudaydah governorate in the West of Yemen, close to the Al Hunaydah airport, and in the Marib governorate in the centre of the country. The coalition also targeted the Taiz governorate.
Earlier this week, Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi asked the Arab League for military aid. Later on the same day, the Saudi Arabia-led coalition began conducting airstrikes on Houthi positions in Yemen.
Earlier in the day, Yemeni Foreign Minister Riyad Yassin said that Saudi-led coalition may soon launch a ground operation against the Houthis in Yemen.
According to the estimates of the rebel-controlled Health Ministry in Sanaa, dozens of people, including civilians, were killed in the airstrikes.
