Lugansk Area Loses Power After High Winds
KIEV (Sputnik) Sleet and high winds caused power outages in over 300 Ukrainian towns and villages on Sunday night, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine said Monday.

"There was a blackout in 342 localities in seven areas on the night of March 29 to March 30, as a result of adverse weather conditions (rain, sleet, squally wind) and due to activation of systems for the protection of power lines," Ukraine's State Emergency Service said in a statement Monday.

Among the areas affected by the stormy weather were the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Zaporizhia, Odesa and Sumy regions.

Ukraine's energy services are currently working to restore power to the areas.
