MOSCOW (Sputnik), Alexander Mosesov — The urgent safety instructions for US military personnel issued following threats from the Islamic State (ISIL) terrorist organization were not unique and are published regularly, a US Army spokesman told Sputnik on Monday.
On March 27, the US Army issued safety instructions to its military personnel after a list of 100 US servicemen believed to be involved in attacks on ISIL forces in the Middle East was published online by a group calling itself the Islamic State Hacking Division with a call for ISIL supporters in the United States to kill those mentioned on the list.
Apart from the advice mentioned by Bourke, the military personnel were also encouraged to use the peephole before opening doors in the latest message.
The US Army spokesperson declined to discuss potential security adjustments that would follow threats from the terrorist group.
A US-led Coalition of some 60 countries has been carrying airstrikes against the ISIL militants in Iraq and Syria since August 2014.
The Islamic State is a radical Sunni militant group in control of large areas in Syria and Iraq. It is notorious for its many human-rights atrocities, including on-camera executions of foreign hostages posted online.
