After 2019, Russia is expected to terminate its gas transit through Ukraine and use North and South corridors for gas supplies.

The statement was made during a working meeting with the Greek Minister of industrial reform, environmental protection and energy Panagiotis Lafazanis.

"Russia confirmed it will cut off [its] gas supplies to Europe through Ukraine,” Lafazanis said. “The gas supplies will go through North and South corridors” along the Russia — Black Sea — Turkey — Greece border route, the Greek Minister stated, adding that his country is ready to participate in the project.

Lafazanis also stated that stronger energy cooperation between Moscow and Athens would benefit both countries and contribute to the stabilization of Europe.

His visit to Moscow took place on March 29-30, just a week before the official visit of Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras to Russia.
