MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed on Wednesday a decree to grant Ukraine a gas discount of no more than $100 per 1,000 cubic meters of fuel for the second quarter of 2015.
"The export duty is calculated by the following formula: at a cost of $333.30 and over per 1,000 cubic meters of gas, the discount is $100; at a cost lower than $333.30, the discount is 30 percent of the price," the Russian government portal reported.
The supplies of Russian gas to Ukraine at preferential prices have been extended until June 30, according to the statement.
On Tuesday, the prime minister said that Moscow would meet the request submitted last month by Ukraine's Naftogaz to Russia's Gazprom to extend the discount.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said that further gas discounts for Ukraine for July-September would be discussed in three months and depend upon global oil prices.
The winter-package deal for the delivery of Russian gas to Ukraine at a discounted price of $329 per 1,000 cubic meters was due to expire on Tuesday.
