The North Korean leader visited the plant in August 2014 and gave the initial approval to build the plane, according to the Yonhap news agency, citing KCNA. At its completion he was shown the plane's capabilities and reportedly conducted a test flight himself.
North Korean media did not provide the location of the plant, which produces both military and civilian aircraft, or the date when the visit took place.
