Iran Nuclear Deal Possible if All Sides Show Goodwill - Berlin
BERLIN (Sputnik) — Merkel said she discussed the ongoing talks in Lausanne, Switzerland, with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier by phone.

"Most steps toward an agreement with Iran have been made," she said.

Earlier in the day, the German Foreign Ministry said in a statement, that nothing had been agreed yet but the Iran nuclear deal still could be achieved if all negotiating sides showed goodwill.

"I hope a reasonable decision will be reached. The nature of such negotiations is that they can be completed only when all individual issues are resolved," the German leader added.

P5+1, Iran to Make Joint Statement on Iran's Nuclear Agreement Wednesday
Tuesday was the deadline for the negotiators to hammer out an agreement but the talks continued into the night and resumed on Wednesday.

France doubts that a political framework agreement will be reached during the current round of talks, French Foreign Ministry political director for Iranian affairs Nicolas de Riviere said.

The P5+1 group, which comprises Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, China and Germany, has been negotiating with Iran to halt its uranium enrichment program, fearing Tehran is developing nuclear weapons under the guise of a civilian energy program.

EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini also attended the talks in Lausanne.
