"We expect to evacuate approximately 300 people today. These are Russian, CIS [Commonwealth of Independent States] and foreign citizens," the ambassador told RIA Novosti.
On Thursday, Russian Foreign Ministry reported that all Russians had been evacuated from the Yemeni port city of Aden. The ministry said that the Russian consulate in Aden had suspended its work due to the conflict.
Last week, a Saudi Arabia-led coalition including primarily Gulf countries launched airstrikes on Houthi positions in the Yemeni capital of Sanaa after a request by ousted Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, who had fled the country.
Foreign countries and international organizations, including the United Nations, have been evacuating their citizens and staff from Yemen amid the intensified conflict.
