NEW DELHI (Sputnik) — India began evacuating its citizens from crisis-hit Yemen’s capital Sanaa by air, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs spokesman Syed Akbaruddin said Friday.

Over 300 Indian nationals reached Djibouti on board a military ship earlier in the day.
Other countries, including Saudi Arabia, Russia, China, France and the United States have been evacuating their citizens from the Yemeni capital due to security concerns. The United Nations has pulled out its staff from Yemen.

Yemen is currently seeing clashes between the Houthi militant group and forces loyal to President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, who has fled the country.
Last week, an international coalition lead by Saudi Arabia launched a military operation against the Houthis rebels in Yemen.
