The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) issued two tenders on delivering two border guard ships of project 22100 (code - "Okean") at the cost of more than 17.3 billion rubles ($305 million), according to the official government procurement website.

The vessels (hull numbers 112 and 113) should be delivered by December 1, 2019, in the city of Murmansk. The ships are to be supplied by the same manufacturer.

The leading ship of project 22100 (hull number 111) was floated out in May 2014, at the Zelenodolsky Shipyard in the Republic of Tatarstan. The project was designed by the Central maritime design bureau "Almaz" in St. Petersburg.

The ship is used for border guard tasks and to patrol remote sea and ocean areas. In addition, it can be used to combat sea pirates and terrorists, illegal migration, drug trafficking and contraband.

It also can be used for search and rescue operations and putting out fires on vessels. It has a speed of 20 knots, an operational range of up to 12,000 miles and an endurance of 60 days.
