WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The reward for information leading to the arrest of escaped convicted murderer Kamron Taylor has been raised to $7,500, US state of Illinois authorities announced on Twitter on Friday.
The original reward the authorities offered was $5,000.
“The CASH REWARD for Kamron T Taylor (escaped convicted murderer from Kankakee) has been increased to $7500!” the Kankakee County, Illinois Sheriff’s Office said in the Twitter message. "Police continue their search and remind the public that any person or persons that are found to be assisting Taylor will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”
The Sheriff’s Office also said it is working in conjunction with all local and several Illinois and US federal law enforcement agencies to apprehend Taylor.
According to local media reports, Kankakee County Sheriff Tim Bukowski believes someone may be helping Taylor hide.
"At this stage, you can't hide this long without somebody protecting you," Bukowski said as cited by ABC7.
Taylor escaped from the Jerome Combs Detention Center at approximately 3 a.m. on Wednesday morning by overpowering a correctional officer. The inmate took the officer’s keys and uniform, and fled the facility by driving away in a vehicle he had stolen from the officer.
