It took 100-year-old Mieko Nagaoka of Japan one hour and 16 minutes to complete a 1,500-meter freestyle swim race in a 25-meter pool; she became the world's first centenarian to achieve such a feat, news reports said.
"I want to swim until I turn 105 if I can live that long," Nagaoka was quoted by the Japanese news network Kyodo News as saying.
Nagaoka already holds 24 international titles in her 100-104 year-old age group, and her latest record is expected to be recognized by Guinness World Records.
