SANAA, April 7 (Sputnik) – At least six children were killed after the Saudi-led coalition carried out airstrikes and hit a school in central Yemen, a military source told Sputnik on Tuesday.
"So far we have recovered the bodies of three students, the bodies of the remaining [three students] are still being removed," the source said.
Yemen has been hit by violent clashes between Houthi rebels and forces loyal to the country's president, Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi.
In late March, the situation in Yemen deteriorated after a Saudi Arabia-led international coalition launched airstrikes against Houthi positions.
At least 74 children were killed and 44 injured since the beginning of the airstrikes, according to the the UN children agency UNICEF.
In past two weeks, over 500 people have been killed, and more than 1,700 injured in Yemen, UN humanitarian chief Valerie Amos said Thursday.
