The White House and Capitol building are reportedly all operating on backup generators. The State Department’s daily news briefing was interrupted by the outage.

Several museums are also affected. According to the Smithsonian’s Twitter account, the National Portrait Gallery and Air and Space Museum were evacuated.

The University of Maryland, just outside of DC, has also reported a campus-wide outage.
