WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — A deal with Iran must ensure that Tehran will not produce nuclear weapons and will include strong verification measures in order to be acceptable, US Senator Rand Paul said during his presidential announcement.
“I will oppose any deal that doesn’t halt Iran’s nuclear ambitions and have strong verification measures,” Paul said on Tuesday. “Freedom and opportunity at home can only come when we protect ourselves from those who wish to attack us.”
Paul noted the United States must admit it is fighting radical Islam and declare its imperative is to stop radical Islamists.
Paul also said the United States must stop giving foreign aid to countries that are hostile to US interests at home.
“It angers me to see mobs burning our flags and shouting ‘death to America’ in countries that received billions of our dollars in our foreign aid,” Paul said. “Not one penny more to these haters of America.”
Rand Paul is a Republican Senator representing the US state of Kentucky. He was elected on January 5, 2011 for his first term in office in the US Congress.
