WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — In September, the US Army announced it would expand the Military Accessions Vital to the National Interest (MAVNI) program to encourage immigrants with certain language and medical skills to serve in exchange for fast-tracking their US citizenship.
However, William Gheen, the president of Americans for Legal Immigration Political Action Committee (ALIPAC), was not too impressed about the decision, and shared his thoughts with Sputnik on Thursday:
“Taking illegal immigrants that have broken into our country and training them in advanced military tactics and weaponry is as dangerous an idea as allowing a Trojan Horse into your city."
Gheen noted that the US has allowed legal immigrants to serve in our military with distinctions for decades.
Gheen explained that the military’s Immigration Recruitment Program is a clear violation of US national security and a reward for illegal behavior that would bring more illegal immigration in the United States.
The United States undermines its own immigration laws, Gheen said, by encouraging and aiding illegal immigrants or by allowing illegal immigrants into Americans’ positions.
“The better way to go about it is to restore constitutional governance for Americans by enforcing our current immigration laws instead of permanently undermining them."
Gheen concluded that ALIPAC supports allowing legal immigrants via the US military’s Immigration Recruitment Program, but would oppose the program if it intends to allow illegal immigrants in the military.
ALIPAC is a grassroots organization that unites a diverse range of US citizens to support the enforcement of US immigration and border laws instead of amnesty for illegal aliens, according to the organization’s website.
