The city of Vancouver says the spill is toxic bunker fuel and should not be touched.
English Bay is a picturesque part of Vancouver that is surrounded by apartments, businesses, and the city’s famous Stanley Park, a 1,000-acre, world-renowned tourist attraction.
The leaking vessel is anchored off the edge of the bay and surrounded by several ships with special equipment to clean up the fuel.
The Vancouver Fire Department says it has recovered over one ton of fuel, so far.
