MOSCOW (Sputnik) — A Kansas Islamic State sympathizer who joined the US Army planning to attack the soldiers was arrested Friday, federal authorities announced.
According to ABC News, John Booker, 20, joined the US Army in 2014. He had been under an FBI investigation after the investigators were tipped off about statements he has been making on his Facebook page.
Booker said on Facebook, as quoted by the ABC News:
"Getting ready to be killed in jihad is a HUGE adrenaline rush!!"
He was then questioned by the FBI, expressing desire to carry out jihad on behalf of the Islamic State.
The Islamic State is a jihadist group which has overtaken large areas of Syria and Iraq. The group is aiming to spread its influence via propaganda, attempting to win over as many English-speaking foreigners from all over the world as possible.
