NEW YORK (Sputnik) — The woman, identified in court documents as 39-year-old Liana Barrientos, first got married in 1999 to Egyptian national Mohamed Gebril. Barrientos then married another Egyptian national, Ahmed Allam, in 2001, and an additional eight men from various countries.

“She is believed to be currently married to four people, and at one time she was married to eight of them at the same time,” the Bronx District Attorney stated.
“The men are from so-called ‘re-flagged countries, which included Egypt, Turkey, Georgia, Pakistan and Mali.”

Prosecutors allege that Barrientos was marrying the men for profit in return for providing the basis to obtain US citizenship.
Barrientos pled not guilty to two felony counts of offering false instruments for filing in the first degree.
