The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) will provide homes for the six refugees, who arrived in Uruguay in December 2014 after spending over a decade in the notorious Guantanamo prison.
UNHCR has "the necessary resources to attend to the needs of the (former) prisoners," Uruguay's President Tabare Vazquez said. Four Syrians, one Palestinian and one Tunisian are struggling to adapt to their new life in the Latin American country, according to officials.
