'Political Terror': Greek Communists Slam Kiev for Glorifying Nazi Gangs

Ukraine’s decision to equate Communism with Nazism under the new legislation is unacceptable and is an attempt of "political terror," the Communist Party of Greece said Saturday.

ATHENS (Sputnik) – On Thursday, the Ukrainian parliament passed a legislation to ban Soviet Communist and Nazi symbols and propaganda. The same day, the Ukrainian parliament also passed a bill to recognize the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) organization as fighters for Ukrainian independence.

The party said in a statement:

“They strive to set a political terror against those opposed to the current reactionary Kiev government.”

The Greek party also condemned Kiev’s attempts to justify UIA role in Ukrainian history.

On Friday, leader of the Italian Communist Refoundation Party Paolo Ferrero also condemned Ukraine’s law on Communist and Nazi symbols, saying that Kiev had taken a “totally undemocratic, revisionist” course. The party demanded Italy to recall its ambassador from Ukraine.

Last week, Russian Foreign Ministry human rights ombudsman Konstantin Dolgov said that Kiev is mistakenly equating Soviet Communism with Nazism.
