WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Former US Secretary of State and the first Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is promising to take Americans “back to yesterday,” US Senator Marco Rubio said.
“Just yesterday, a leader from yesterday began a campaign for President by promising to take us back to yesterday,” Rubio said on Monday, referring to Clinton’s Sunday announcement of her 2016 presidential bid.
“Yesterday is over and we are never going back,” Rubio said.
At present, 46 percent of American voters view Clinton as a more favourable candidate than Rubio, but the Florida Senator can receive 43 percent of votes, according to an April 7 Fox News poll.
Clinton’s presidential bid, however, overshadowed her rivals on social media. Clinton’s announcement generated over 10 million interactions on Facebook, while Republican candidates Rand Paul and Ted Cruz generated about 1.9 million and 5.5 million engagements respectively, according to local media reports.
