Serbia is considering the purchase of Russian army transport helicopters: either the Mi-17 or Mi-171, according to Serbian Prime Minister Alexander Vucic, as cited by the Russian news agency Regnum.
Announcing the decision, Vucic said that the purchase of the helicopters will help Serbia "to be fully prepared for the protection of its skies and its sovereignty." He declined to elaborate.
Separately, Vucic pledged that later this week, his government will decide on the allocation of funds for buying spare parts for the Russian-made MiG-29 and MiG-21 fighter jets that are currently being used by the Serbian Air Force.
