WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — US employees productivity does not correlate with paychecks allowing American corporate management to earn hundreds of times more than regular workers, former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton stated at an education roundtable in Monticello, Iowa.
“There’s something wrong when CEOs make 300 times more than the typical American worker,” Clinton said at the Kirkwood Community College on Tuesday. “That productivity is not matched in peoples’ paychecks.”
Clinton also argued that it was wrong for hedge fund managers to pay less taxes than nurses and truck workers do. In addition, she spoke of the need to strengthen US families and communities through flexibility in employment.
“I will be rolling out policies to help people balance their work and personal lives,” Clinton said.
The former Secretary of State also noted there is a need to reform the American education system to make achieving success easier.
“It’s wrong when students and their families go too deeply into debt to get skills they need,” Clinton added.
Clinton, who has announces her 2016 presidential bid on Sunday, stressed her intention to focus on an “economy of tomorrow.”
The former Secretary of State is considered the strongest candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination, and was also one of the leading Democratic candidates in 2008 when she lost to rival Barack Obama.
Top contributors to Clinton’s previous campaigns include the American multinational banking corporation Citigroup and the leading investment banking firm Goldman Sachs, according to the US Federal Election Commission data.
