Greece is currently negotiating with Russia the purchase of new missiles for its S-300 air defense systems and their maintenance.
Greek Defense Minister Panos Kammenos stressed that the countries first content themselves with the exchange of rockets.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras met last week in Moscow. Both countries decided to expand their cooperation and strengthen their economic ties, closely working together, especially in the energy sector.
Greek officials also repeatedly opposed anti-Russian sanctions. They stated that the sanctions don’t have any desired effect and have negatively impacted European countries as well.
