‘There Are No Independent States in EU, They Are All Vassals of the US’
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — During the Cold War, the United States sought to prevent Soviet influence by supporting foreign governments, including authoritarian regimes.

The US government has also been linked to the 1967 Greek military coup, which resulted in seven years of military dictatorship.

"We should not forget about the role of the United States in Europe, especially in Greece at the time of dictatorship, or in Kosovo. I think they want to continue playing this role, they do not want to lose what they have already achieved,” Nikos Athanassiades said.

Athanassiades’ comments follow a statement made by Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier in the day. During a televised Q&A session, the Russian leader said that Washington is interested in finding vassals rather than allies.
