Oles Buzina was shot in the head and body by unidentified assailants in the courtyard of his apartment building in Kiev on Thursday. He was a pro-Russian journalist who wrote on Ukraine's history and the current political crisis in the country, including the conflict in the east.
The people gathered outside the Ukrainian embassy also remembered Oleh Kalashnikov, a former political ally of Ukraine’s ousted former President Viktor Yanukovych, who was shot dead in Kiev on Wednesday as provocation aimed at destabilizing the situation in the country.
Muscovites bring flowers, candles and tie St.George ribbons to the fence of the Ukrainian Embassy im Moscow in memory of killed Oles Buzina and Oleh Kalashnikov.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko denounced the assassinations as a political crime that will unlikely ever be solved.
Russia’s President Vladimir Putin denounced the killings as a “provocation against Ukraine.”
