The parents of an 8-year-old victim of the Boston Marathon bombing asked federal authorities to consider dropping the death penalty.
Bill and Denise Richard, whose son, Martin, was killed in April 2013 during the marathon explosion, said that sentencing Dzhokhar Tsarnaev to death could bring years of appeals and extend reliving the most painful day for them.
The penalty phase of Tsarnaev’s trial starts Tuesday.
