MADRID (Sputnik) — Anti-TTIP rallies were held at over 700 locations around the world on Saturday, including 53 Spanish municipalities. The largest Spanish demonstration took place in Madrid, with over 20,000 attendees, according to organizers.
In Barcelona, an estimated 4,000 people took to the streets to protest the proposed agreement.
"If the TTIP gets approved it will be like a hurricane that sweeps away our rights," said Albiol, who represents the Spanish United Left party.
"The objective is to stop it, so that it is not approved, the TTIP is not amendable," she added.
Head of the United Left party Cayo Lara told reporters that the free trade deal was being worked out "in the greatest secrecy" despite valid reasons to hold a national debate on the issue.
