Irish Party Leader: Scottish Vote Leads to Call for Ireland’s Reunification Referendum
MOSCOW (Sputnik) The Sinn Fein political party, active in both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, will seek an extra 1.5 billion pounds ($2.4 billion) after the May 2015 vote, the party said in its general election manifesto published Monday.

"An immediate negotiation with the incoming British government to secure a workable budget including the reinstatement of £1.5 bn to the budget to support job creation and the delivery of strong public services," the key priorities section of the manifesto said.

The party added that since coming to power in 2010, the current British government has removed £1.5bn from the budget of Northern Ireland as part of nationwide austerity measures. The cuts have had a negative impact on health and education services in Northern Ireland and caused greater increase in inequality and a further deepening of the recession.

The Sinn Fein manifesto added that the party aims at "delivering a fair recovery" including the support for small and medium businesses, greater security of employment and more affordable childcare services.

The UK general election is scheduled for May 7, 2015.

UK citizens will elect representatives to sit in the House of Commons, the country's lower house of parliament, for the next five years.

In the May 2010 general elections, the Sinn Fein party received five seats in the House of Commons winning more than 25 percent of the vote in Northern Ireland and 0.6 percent of the vote nationwide.
