WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The civil rights groups successfully argued that preventing Ohio voters from registering and voting on the same day in advance of the 2016 presidential election would negatively affect low-income and black voters, the release explained.
“The Ohio NAACP, ACLU and other civil rights organizations settled with the Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted, in a deal that would expand early voting opportunities,” the release said on Monday.
Civil rights groups have for years complained that Ohio electoral laws have disenfranchised minority voters in elections at all levels, according to the NAACP.
