WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The Chinese government must implement Chinese Intellectual Property (IP) laws and regulations and publicize them to better inform Chinese citizens and foreign companies of what they can and cannot do, The American Chamber of Commerce in China (AmCham China) stated in a release on Tuesday.
“We therefore encourage the Chinese government to unify enforcement of IP laws and regulations across the country through publications in detail of decisions,” the release said.
However, ineffective enforcement remain a concern for 80 percent of its members, the AmCham China added. Two-thirds of AmCham China’s members believe IP and data leaks are more likely to happen in China than in any other country in the world.
AmCham China concluded that the Chinese government needs to offer an even greater protection for the business trade secrets of more than 1,000 US companies operating across China.
The American Chamber of Commerce in China is a non-profit, non-governmental organization whose mission is to help US companies succeed in China through advocacy, information, networking and business support services, according to the AmCham China’s website.
