The focus of the investigation will be looking for civil rights violations, including whether officers used unreasonable force.
In addition to his broken vertebra, Gray also suffered an injured voice box. He was rushed into emergency spinal surgery, and went into a coma- from which he never recovered. At a news conference regarding the incident, Deputy Police Commissioner Jerry Rodriguez stated that the department does not know how the injuries occurred.
Six officers are currently suspended relating to Gray’s death- Lieutenant Brian Rice, 41, Officer Garrett Miller, 26, Sgt. Alicia White, 30, Officer William Porter, 25, Officer Edward Nero, 29, and Officer Caesar Goodson, 45.
