MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Houthi militants called for the Saudi-led coalition to suspend all military activities in Yemen before talks on reconciliation can resume, Al Arabiya TV channel said Wednesday.
Despite the international coalition announcing the end of military operation Decisive Storm on Tuesday night, coalition airstrikes have continued in southern areas of the country, including the cities of Aden, Taiz and Lahij.
Earlier in the day, the international coalition reportedly carried out an airstrike against recently-captured Houthi positions at a military base in Yemeni southern city of Taiz.
The Houthi faction seized the headquarters of the 35th army brigade earlier on Wednesday during violent clashes with forces loyal to the country's President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi who fled the country in March.
The military operation by the Saudi-led coalition against the Houthis was launched in late March at the request of Hadi, who remains in hiding.
The Houthi militant faction, Yemen's main opposition force, controls large territories in the country, including the capital Sanaa.
